Just north of Plum Point is Old Ferrole Island which shelters the Old Ferrole Harbour. This area was established as a seasonal cod fishing station by Basque fishermen in the 1500's.

Take in the walkway at Plum Point from where you can look across Old Ferrole Harbour and contemplate the anchorage where Captain Cook had his ship, The Grenville, moored for several days in the autumn of 1764.
